Hello everyone!
Let me just share a few happenings with me and this blog:
1) HEY, MISS ADVENTURES turns one month!
Hooray! This is actually a feat for me as I have always changed blogs every few days or so when I feel like it does not work out. So far, things here have been working well – slowly – but at least, I do not get zero views anymore. Thanks to all who have read and browsed this blog.
UPDATE (07/19): Blog now uses its official domain. No more forwarding. Hooray!
2) I won’t get to join USC-M anymore.
Well, it may not matter much to you but it does to me. You see, I’ve been hoping to join the school org (USC – Mountaineers) not just for the experience but also since I want to share it here. My boif and I can’t join because they won’t allow anyone within the org to have romantic relationships. It gets a little risky during overnight climbs, you see, and it can get tempting, too. So, I guess Miss Adventures won’t be getting into as much adventures as she would have wanted.
PS. The news got me a little frustrated there but thinking about it on a more positive note, it actually just bought me more time to save up for the needed equipment – shoes, bags and all. Now, I can prioritize on a more important item, which would be useful for school, for thesis, for freelancing and many others. Hahahaha. :p
3) Face the book.
Well, I’ve posted a blog entry on the books I’ve been meaning to read and – guess what? – I’ve had progress since. The progress is not as much as it normally should be but I have been able to read the first Percy Jackson book so far (finished it yesterday) and I think I’m already halfway through the second book now. I’ve also added a new blog, which is kinda illegal, but just in case you want free ebooks, you can click on this link.
UPDATE (07/19): Done reading Book 2 yesterday. Hahaha. Now I’m on Book 3, Chapter 9.
4) Progress with work.
So far, I’ve been making better progress with work, have been able to keep up with most deadlines and keep most of my well-paying clients. Comparing my performance in over a year of freelancing, I think I did so much better this week. You can check my journey in this link - you might even get a few tips from me regarding freelance writing and freelancing in general.
5) School work and research.
In around a month, my thesis mates and I will be defending our thesis proposal. It sort of gets me excited but I still have a few hesitations when it comes to giving my heart to it, because I know I will be facing problems by the next semester. Still, I’d like you to join in my journey through school and through computer engineering, and this would also become much like an informal documentation of our thesis-making journey as well. Check it here.
6) Project Gutenberg
According to Wikipedia,
Project Gutenberg, abbreviated as PG, is a volunteer effort to digitize and archive culturalworks, to “encourage the creation and distribution of eBooks.”[2] Founded in 1971 by Michael S. Hart, it is the oldest digital library.[3] Most of the items in its collection are the full texts of public domain books. The project tries to make these as free as possible, in long-lasting, open formatsthat can be used on almost any computer. As of December 2009, Project Gutenberg claimed over 32,000 items in its collection. Project Gutenberg is affiliated with many projects that are independent organizations which share the same ideals, and have been given permission to use the Project Gutenberg trademark.
Wherever possible, the releases are available in plain text, but other formats are included, such as HTML, PDF, EPUB, MOBI, and Plucker. Most releases are in the English language, but many non-English works are also available. There are multiple affiliated projects that are providing additional content, including regional and language-specific works. Project Gutenberg is also closely affiliated with Distributed Proofreaders, an internet-based community for proofreading scanned texts.
I just officially signed up to become a Distributed Proofreader (still a beginner) and it makes me a little excited and proud that I can become part of history this way.
